Welcome to my space — a platform dedicated to amplifying the unheard stories of Pakistani women. My name is Amreen Aslam, and I’m a PhD researcher, writer, and lifelong challenger of stereotypes.
🌱 Who I Am
At the heart of my work is a simple yet urgent mission: to make the invisible visible.
I’ve spent years immersed in the lived experiences of Pakistani women — not the versions often simplified in statistics, misunderstood in mainstream narratives, or overlooked in academic studies — but the real, textured voices of women whose stories are layered, powerful, and deeply human.
Through qualitative interviews, personal narratives, and reflective writing, I aim to create a space where these women can be seen, heard, and understood in their own terms.
📚 What I Do
My academic research explores the role of trust in decision-making among Pakistani women, spanning generations from 18 to 65 and beyond. This includes how trust — or the absence of it — influences choices related to healthcare, education, autonomy, and wellbeing.
What makes this work unique is that it focuses exclusively on Pakistani women, a group often absorbed into broad, generic categories like “South Asian” or “BAME” in both data and discourse. This generalisation erases the complexity and specificity of our experiences.
My work is designed to fill that gap — to speak directly to and about Pakistani women, without dilution, tokenism, or apology.
🎤 Why It Matters
Pakistani women have often been spoken about, rarely spoken with. We’ve been reduced to statistics or stereotypes — compliant, conservative, silent. But there has always been more to us. And a new generation of Pakistani women is emerging — vocal, self-aware, and unafraid to challenge inherited roles.
This blog is part research, part reflection, part resistance.
It’s for those of us who want to break generational patterns, rewrite internalised narratives, and redefine what it means to be a Pakistani woman — not just in academic papers, but in real life, real homes, and real communities.
